The Client
The client is one of the
largest investor-owned
Utility Companies in the
US. Patni is associated
with the client in
delivering software
projects for over the last
7 years.
The Challenge
The Customer Service Business Unit (CSBU) division of the client aimed to get
assessed at Level 2 of SW CMM (Ver. 1.1) by end of 2002. The client appointed
Patni to do a progress assessment for SW CMM Level 2. The client had done
some work over the past 18 months towards defining and implementing
CMM Level 2 processes and wanted Patni's help in assessing the status of their
readiness for assessment.
Patni was faced with the challenge of delivering under extremely stiff
deadlines, with very little lead-time for assessment preparation. The
assignment also entailed close coordination between the offshore document
review team, and the onsite teams responsible for the maturity
questionnaire and audit.
The Solution
Patni adopted the onsite offshore model for carrying out the progress assessment.
The project was executed in a stipulated time and budget.
