A Report
Meetings of like minds are almost always pleasant, but meetings of great minds are much more interesting. Such was the premise of PatniConnect 2005, a gathering of the foremost thought leaders, practitioners and customers of the global sourcing industry. Held on 16-17 October at the Ritz Carlton, Greensboro, Georgia and attended by 140 delegates, it was an intellectually kinetic forum that allowed Patni clients, IT and business leaders, academic professionals to interact with Patni senior management – and debate future trends in IT and outsourcing.

The first keynote speaker of the event was Dr. Laura D’Andrea Tyson, Dean of London Business School, who spoke on “The changing world economic order and its implications on international trade and commerce”. In the second keynote address, Jack Shaw, technology consultant and futurist discussed the development and implementation of new strategies by successful companies, for exploiting the opportunities of globalization.

The intellectual rigor of the two day’s sessions was carried forward with intense panel discussions and case study presentations. A live discussion with all participants witnessed animated dialogue on hot outsourcing topics.

The intense morning sessions were followed by an action-packed afternoon. Conference attendees revitalized their energies through golf and tennis rounds, a bit of fishing, canoeing and hiking, activities that also provided an informal forum in which to mull over the day’s sessions.

Overall, amidst a lush and tranquil backdrop, the conference emerged as a veritable battlefield of ideas, with analysts and participants predicting the shape of the evolving IT industry. For the second year in a row, PatniConnect proved to be an ideal platform for select customers to interact with Patni leaders and share experiences. Founder Narendra K. Patni gave a comprehensive interview, meeting with Rita Terdiman, Independent Analyst, and business practitioners debated the intricacies of outsourcing in their chosen verticals.
