With this acquisition, Patni gains high-end life science consultancy capability to provide integrated business, information technology, and regulatory compliance products and services; in the areas of regulatory compliance, analytics, drug safety, and pharmacovigilance. |

FINANCIAL YEAR 2006
ZAiQ Technlogies
In June 2006, Patni acquired ZAiQ Technlogies through its wholly owned subsidiary, Patni Computer Systems, Inc. This acquisition will enable Patni to provide Application-Specific Integrated Circuit (ASIC) design capabilities and Intellectual Property (IP), as well as expertise in Field-Programmable Gate Arrays (FPGA) and System-on-a-Chip (SoC) technologies. Patni believes that it will be well positioned to meet the demand for ASIC-based services in vertical markets such as consumer electronics, telecom, computing and wireless.

In November 2004, Patni acquired Cymbal Corporation through its wholly owned subsidiary, Patni
Computer Systems, Inc., to establish expertise and operations in the provision of IT services to the telecommunications industry. Through the acquisition of Cymbal, Patni believes to have gained expertise and operations in the provision of services to clients in the telecommunications industry.

The Reference Inc.
Patni completed its first acquisition in April 2003 by acquiring The Reference Inc., a company incorporated in Massachusetts, USA for a consideration of about US$ 7.5 million, through its wholly owned US subsidiary, Patni Computer Systems Inc. The Reference Inc. has provided Patni with specialised skills and domain expertise in the financial services industry segment.
The operations of The Reference Inc. have been integrated with those of the Company. The Reference Inc. forms the core of the Company's Financial Services Business Unit. |
