Cambridge, MA, May 16, 2007 - Patni Computer Systems (NYSE: PTI), a global IT services provider,
announced today the formation of its Consulting Services practice within its Manufacturing Business Unit.
The new Consulting Services practice will offer manufacturers a full spectrum of solutions designed to
improve business performance and corporate competitiveness through strategies, processes and tools
delivered by experienced consultants.
Patni’s consulting service offerings are designed to support any aspect of any corporation’s business
lifecycle ranging from the alignment of IT with business strategies to operational implementation. Byusing Patni’s global delivery capability for implementation, consulting services clients will be able to
realize significant cost savings in comparison to similar services offered from traditional consulting firms.
Initially, the practice will focus on the Global 2000 in the Manufacturing, Consumer Packaged Goods industries and Private Equity market segment.
Private equity firms and corporate M&A groups frequently need assistance in dealing with a range of
technology management issues that come up during the acquisition process. These issues can cripple
negotiations, slowing the deal process while affecting the transactions profitability.
Watermill Group, a strategy driven Private Equity firm that effectively combines strategic thinking,
operational expertise and investing acumen, used Patni's consulting services for due diligence, planning
and post-acquisition integration activities with its newly acquired portfolio company Latrobe Specialty
Steel. "We engaged Patni's consulting services to manage the transition, drive key process
transformation and for change management. Eventually, we will hand-off Latrobe's complete IT
operations to Patni, reducing our cost and risk while accelerating the post acquisition integration process"
said Stephen Kotler, CFO of Watermill Group. "Going forward, we see our partnership with Patni as an
effective strategy for acquiring and growing our portfolio companies and tackling more complex
transactions."
Executive Appointment for Consulting Services
Patni named Sanjiv Bhatia vice president of the newly formed Consulting Services practice. Mr. Bhatia, a
former BearingPoint Managing Director, has more than 20 years of experience conducting engagements
in business strategy, process design, and solutions implementation for leading companies in the
electronics, software and manufacturing industries.
"This practice area is a natural for Patni," said Mr. Bhatia."The combination of customized, on-site
