| Abstract |
Over the last two decades, the penetration of IT systems to support core processes has expanded exponentially. While the benefits have been huge, the organization's IT function is faced with the challenge of handling several applications, each handling different aspects of business. As the dependence on IT systems has increased, the complexity of managing them has also increased. Increasingly, as the number of applications have increased, many of these applications have become obscure and inefficient or just inconsistent with business changes. This paper highlights the importance of building a lean updated application inventory, and recommends methods to build an accurate IT applications portfolio that keeps pace with business expectations.
