Patni documentation team designed and developed a proficient, easy to understand end-user document for mobile sales personnel usage.

The Client

The Client is the world's largest food and Beverage Company with existing 200 brands and about 20 brands added every year. The client has global operations with presence in 250 countries around the world.


The Challenge

The application was to be deployed at different plants spread across the globe. The application was complex with multiple navigational patterns
The documentation was targeted towards a varied and volatile user group which also included college-going students hired as interns
help the users in learn the new application.
The usage of the application by the broad user community demanded extensive training requiring large investment.
The documentation had to be easily downloadable on a PDA.

 

The Solution

Develop user guide parallel with the application development. The planning phase of the guide started at the design stage of the software development
The organization of the user guide facilitated easy understanding of the complex navigational patterns
The screens were categorized and explained with minimum number of screen grabs to maintain optimum document size
To achieve the multiple purposes of user guide and self-training, the document was developed using tutorial style
The user’s guide was segregated to meet the needs of:
- Management - Traditional and advance selling
- Delivery Management and Settlement - Traditional and advance selling
- Full Service Vending
The documents were grouped into chapters and delivered as PDF for easy download.
