The Client
The client is a leading Services Company that provides specialized shipment services to North American companies.
The Challenge
The client was introducing a radical new service offering to the supply-chain vertical and required a robust process engine that would serve as the backbone of the proposed solution. The customer engaged Patni to conduct an evaluation to select a best fit platform for developing this backbone: a ground-up development, a Business Process Management (BPM) Suite or a Portal Solution. In addition, since this was a new service line, the customer was looking for a solution that would require minimal initial investment and offer a scalable solution.
The Solution
Patni conducted an assessment to understand the client’s business model and identified a set of core business needs that the backbone solution needed to meet. These business needs were further distilled to create Business, Technical and Functional parameters for the evaluation.
For this evaluation, the Pugh Matrix tool was used to evaluate the relative strengths and weaknesses of each approach. The conclusion of this evaluation helped the customer to decide on going for a BPM Suite as the best choice for developing this backbone.
