Hybrid Offshore Outsourcing Model |
| |
| Abstract |
The software industry is going through a major transition. Buyers are pushing down
license prices while expecting greater quality and higher levels of support. Increased
competition, shrinking product lifecycles and increasing prominence of regional markets
have forced Independent Software Vendors (ISVs) to roll out localized products at a faster
pace with value added features without compromising on quality. ISVs are facing the
challenge of managing the demands of faster pace, lower cost and greater scalability from
their current business models.
To address these challenges, ISVs are looking beyond their internal resources and
considering setting up R&D or development bases in offshore locations such as India. The
primary motivations are cost and scalability with access to skilled resources being another
strong consideration.
This paper discusses how an offshore model can help global ISVs
mitigate risks and improve time-to-market.
