Patni's Interoperability Solutions
- a beacon for the Storage Industry |
|
|
Patni has a long history with SNIA as well as a large number of storage vendors. This unique position has
allowed us to be closely associated with the development of interoperability solutions and standards.
The Client
Patni is working closely with the Storage Networking Industry Association (SNIA) as well as
several SNIA members who are the frontrunners in the Storage
Technology space today. We provide custom as well as
reusable components as our Provider solutions to our clients.
Our interoperability solutions often compliment our existing
client relationships in the Storage Systems and Storage
Management segments.
The Challenge
End-customers of storage enterprise solutions have been pushing for
improved storage network interoperability and manageability. For
vendors, this would mean between 6-13 months of development time for
their interoperability solution and related test suites. This is a deviation
from their core expertise.
Storage vendors have tied up with Patni's Interoperability group
to help:
 |
Develop a consistent architecture for the standard-conforming
functions |
 |
Keep ahead of the race by developing solutions on continuously
evolving specifications |
 |
Build complete solutions with their across the board specifications
expertise |
 |
Reduce pressures on time- to-market of existing and/or new product
lines. |
The Solution
Patni offers a 100% off-shored development and testing solution that can run
in parallel to our client core development efforts. Patni's 100% off-shored
solutions include the following areas of Interoperability:
 |
Delivering Interoperability multi-vendor Storage Area Networks (SAN)
solutions based on standards - We have developed various Packages,
Profiles and sub-profiles on Providers as per highly evolving SMI-S
specifications |
 |
WBEM Protocol Tester for SNIA's SMI-Lab - This tool tests conformance
for vendors using CIM and SMI-S. Patni is working now with the SNIA for the
next phase of the Protocol tester to add the testing of Web
Services-Management (WS-MAN) protocol |
 |
CIM-XML and WS-MAN solutions for some of the biggest Storage vendors
in the market today |
 |
Conformance testing of Providers to SMI-S standards |
 |
Functionality testing of Providers - We do extensive client-specific
functionality testing of Providers through in-house Validation tools &
recipes |
 |
CMulti-OS support and re-engineering expertise |
 |
Interoperability testing. |
Patni stays ahead of standards development through our direct
involvement in building standards and through their immediate
deployment.
 |
Patni representatives in SNIA work groups include Technical
Architects, Marketing teams and Working group leadership (iSCSI
Direct) |
 |
Through direct contribution to Storage Management (SMI-S), IP
Storage Forum, Data Management and Storage Security. |
