Patni helps medical electronics leader develop simulator
for field testing of Impedance Cardiograph System |
|
|
A leader in patient monitoring systems partnered with Patni to fulfill an extremely critical need of
developing a simulator.
The Client
The client is a leader in
designing advanced patient
monitoring systems, used in
leading hospitals and clinics
around the world.
The Challenge
The client's non-invasive patient monitors are a new generation of innovative,
rugged devices which have found tremendous usage in hospitals, clinics and
even in the residence of patients.
These monitors provide a non-invasive assessment of the cardiac output and
blood pressure.
As the product could not afford to fail, the client wanted to develop a
simulator for performing field verification of the cardiac output from the
system. Accordingly, the mandate for developing the simulator was given to
Patni, due to its expertise in the medical electronics domain.
The Solution
The scope of the project for developing the simulator covered all stages of development starting
from detailed system design, prototype development enclosure design to the final evaluation and
testing of the simulator on the Impedance Cardiography (ICG) Monitor.
Patni executed the project in a phased manner, which included the following steps:
 |
Deriving the functional specifications of the simulator after a thorough understanding of the
ICG monitor |
 |
Designing a detailed circuit from the functional specifications followed by PCB design and
component selection |
 |
Developing and testing the prototype |
 |
Preparing the Test documents for the client's production facility. |

The Benefits
Patni's expertise in the medical electronics domain has given
the client significant benefits. Some of the benefits include:
 |
The simulator has given the client the ability to
verify and test cardiac output from the system |
 |
Detailed documentation provided by Patni has
enabled the manufacturing and testing of the
simulator at the client's premises.
