Multilingualization - Enhancing Reach |
| |
| Abstract |
In the last few decades, globalization and technological advancements have made it easier for
people to communicate and do business globally.
Keeping pace with globalization, software companies aim to market their products worldwide. Globally acceptable software products offer their creators business opportunities in new territories and a competitive advantage, which ultimately results in increased profitability. It is estimated that by 2007, globalized software products will be up to 60% more profitable than their non-globalized counterparts.
Global acceptance of software products is achieved through multilingualization - the process by
which a software product is enabled to support more than one language at a time.
This white paper discusses various aspects of multilingualization, including its strategic benefits. A
well-defined approach for successfully globalizing software products is also discussed.
