Patni Enables Grand Central's Product
Launch |
|
|
Patni provided the QA infrastructure and methodology, released initial product on time, improved
quality and achieved compliance with industry protocols and standards
The Client
Founded in 2000, the San
Francisco-based Grand Central
Communications is a webservices
product company/ASP
that facilitates organizations
to register online and
exchange information in a
mutually understood and
accepted format. Their easyto-
deploy Web Services
Network plugs directly into an
enterprise's IT infrastructure,
enabling companies to
magnify the value of their
existing technology
investments. From a business
perspective , this
revolutionary "meet-in-themiddle"
subscription service
enables Grand Central's
customers to create adaptive,
any-to-any connections and
better realize the largely
untapped potential of
business-to-business ecommerce
The Challenge
Like other new start-ups developing leading-edge technologies, Grand Central
had to meet aggressive time lines to deliver its flagship release. Although the
development team was well established, a solid QA team was missing. Test
execution had not started and QA processes were not in place. The company was
having difficulty finding sufficient expert staff in emerging technologies such as
SOAP, XML, XSL, and UDDI
The Key responsibilities included
 |
Acceleration of the QA process for the Grand Central's first product |
 |
Ensuring product quality and on-time delivery |
The Solution
Grand Central made the decision to outsource its software for
Quality Assurance processes from a strong IT services
company. Their search led them to Patni's Telecom Business
Unit, known for performing in just this kind of environment.
Working closely with Grand Central's developers and project
managers, Patni's QA Practice developed a project plan and
implemented the CymphonyT QA Methodology on an
accelerated schedule. A detailed planning process resulted in
comprehensive test plans and test cases.
Simultaneously, infrastructure development brought up test
beds and labs. Finally, implementation of strong QA processes
and application of Patni's QA Methodology helped prepare the
entire project team for an expedited execution phase. The
highlight of the solution was that Patni provided the QA
infrastructure and methodology
