Patni maximizes utilization of an enterprise billing system for a large wireless company

With its domain and technology expertise, Patni is validating and modifying the enterprise billing system to address critical customer facing functions.

The Client

A full service wireless company, providing innovative solutions through wireless technologies. The company has a customer base of about 650,000 subscribers across 14 states in the Midwest, Northeast, Northwest and the Southern regions of the United States.

The Challenge

With a number of acquisitions on its back, the client sought to generate strong financial results and fuel its growth in the rural areas where tourism, agriculture, and small businesses are prevalent. The client company utilizes an enterprise billing system to manage the entire customer interface activities from client back-end calling to order management, billing and switch control. The client faced the following challenges:

It required to maximize ROI of its major investment in the enterprise billing system, and ensure seamless conversion to the new systems.
To exploit its enterprise billing system completely, it required the system to be validated and verified against desired functionality, but lacked IT resources with adequate capability.
It required the modified system to adhere to high quality standards before going into production.
 

The Solution

Patni's solution comprised a two-phased approach. Phase I is underway to validate and accept the delivery of the base platform, while Phase II will comprise the conversion of ~700K subscriber data from legacy into new system via seamless data migration and transaction parallel testing.

Key activities undertaken by Patni:
With its deep technology and business process knowledge, the project team has carried out a comprehensive gap assessment of the client's out-of-the-box application vs. the desired functionality, resulting in the delivery of detailed test plans and scripts based on business case scenarios and functionality gaps.

The Patni team is leading the development of User Acceptance Testing criteria.

The client is being guided in the use of the various modules, i.e. CSM, billing, ANF, POS, inventory control, rating, product catalog, resource management, IVR, collections, accounts receivable, FBF bill format, and switch control.
