Operational data store enables leading MVNO
to improve decision making capability
|
By leveraging Patni's extensive experience in rolling out MVNO initiatives, a leading MVNO
improved its decision making capability due to a unified view of the enterprise.
The Client
The client is a Mobile Virtual
Network Operator (MVNO), and
is one of the first national
wireless phone service
providers in the U.S. to cater
to meet the unique
communication needs of
families.
The Challenge
For supporting the requirements of different departments, the client had
put together a host of different systems. This IT landscape of the client
consisted of a diverse landscape of IT systems such as Siebel and Geneva.
To comply with different reporting requirements of different
departments, the client had to manually source data from different
systems, and then compile the required reports.
As a result, the client required substantial efforts and resources to collate
data and generate cross functional reports various functions. This was a
serious impediment in a highly competitive world, where lack of a single
view prevented effective decision making. To address this issue, the client
decided to build an operational data store (ODS) that would centrally
store all the data, and enable it to effortlessly provide faster and accurate
reporting.
The Solution
With extensive experience in partnering with clients for rolling out their MVNO
initiatives, Patni was a preferred choice. Patni used its Business Intelligence
development roadmap based on IIDM (Interactive and Iterative development
methodology) to develop the staging and the operational data store and reporting
infrastructure. This data store was responsible for capturing data from different
transactional systems across the globe.
Starting off with requirements gathering, Patni assisted the client in design
validation, identifying data integrity issues, defining data elements and testing the
system to ensure that the deployed system met key business requirements. Patni was
also responsible for designing, developing and automating the required ETL
procedures. Additionally, workflow, error logs and user notification mails were
automated.
