Building an agile enterprise with the right BPM solution |
| |
| Abstract |
Traditionally, most enterprise applications have been built according to the 80:20 rule. This
approach involves incorporating 80 percent of the features that fit most user needs and
are common to most businesses. While this approach promises best practices, it also
becomes an obstacle if the enterprise application is not able to change according to the
changing business dynamics. Not surprisingly, CIOs often complain that their enterprise
applications are not delivering the desired results. One of the root causes for this
dissatisfaction is the lack of business process management (BPM) support in existing
enterprise solutions. Most enterprise solutions are data-centric, disconnected functional
point solutions. Hence, enterprises running on such solutions lack the ability to adapt to
fast-changing business needs.
This Paper describes the role of Business Process Management (BPM) solutions for
powering an agile enterprise and also highlights the key characteristics enterprises should
look out for in a BPM solution.
