Implementation of Oracle Financials 11i facilitates
consolidation of business applications |
Patni facilitates a transition from first-generation stand-alone applications to a Web-based application that
integrates the enterprise wide core business processes
The Client
The client is a subsidiary of the world's largest document management company and specializes in consulting and systems integration. It helps companies streamline and digitize their documentintensive
business processes like customer communications, billing, training, or records management. The client provides consulting and strategic planning at an enterprise level and helps integrate solutions across enterprise systems and
applications.
The Challenge
Traditionally, IT infrastructure has been an integral part of the client's
strategy to maintain business leadership. Consistently ahead on the
technology adoption curve, it had implemented a few stand-alone solutions
to manage some of the core business processes like accounting, receivables
management, and asset management. However, as time passed by, the client
realized that the disconnected business applications with different
technological standards provided a fragmented view of business both from a
management and financial perspective.
These first generation systems lacked the ability to scale to handle heavy
transaction processing and cope up with the ever-changing requirements of
business. Multiple reporting environments and high-cost of maintenance
were an added cause of concern. Moreover, the incompatibility between the
accounting system of the client and the financial system used by the
corporate office resulted into inefficient processes. The client recognized
the need to consolidate core business applications and disparate IT platforms
into a single application which supported its enterprise wide operations.
The Solution
Implementation of Oracle Financials 11i application suite was a natural choice due to its
superior product architecture, inbuilt intra-module integration between the modules, and
ease of integration with third party products.
The client selected Patni as its implementation partner because of its domain and software
expertise as well as end-to-end project management capabilities.
Patni adopted Oracle's industry-proven AIM methodology to complete the implementation
in a phased manner. Some of the salient aspects of the implementation were:
 |

 |
