Instance consolidation solution improves the financial monitoring system / accuracy of the financial data in the organization and simplifies the migration process.

The Client

The Challenge

The client organization consisted of three groups viz. Consumers Group, Professional Group and OEM Group. The client desired to consolidate SAP instances at the Professional Group (which in turn comprised of three group companies, two of which already had SAP instances in operation)

The client objectives were to:

	Compare the business processes at the two locations where SAP was implemented, identify the best business processes and adopt the same to prepare a blue print of the consolidated instance
	Set up a Center of Excellence (CoE) for SAP within the Professional Group. this CoE team would also assist in the implementation and rollout of the consolidated system across the Professional Group
	Improve service levels through data center migration and hardware consolidation
	Make future integration easier in the event of consolidations needed due to acquisitions
	Create collaborative processes with suppliers / customers
	Optimize the time-to-market and costs in the supply chain and other areas
	Compliance with SOX & other financial consolidation issues
	Simplify the reengineering processes & ensure easier maintainability
	Provide annualized savings.

The Solution

Patni team analyzed the business requirements and suggested a phased approach to the implementation. The analysis also considered the system architecture needs that would help the client meet future business requirements without any major investments in the infrastructure.

Patni was responsible for:

	Data migration
	Customizations to SAP BW. These involved requirements for using complex
	ABAPs for: Data Sources, processing the information coming into BW (Routines) and also displaying the information into BEx (User Exits)
	Managing complex reporting requirements that needed a consolidation of data from various systems and generation of key performance indicators.
