Centralized ERP helps air-conditioning major streamline business processes

The Challenge The Solution The Benefits

By partnering with Patni as its ERP implementation partner, a global air-conditioning equipment manufacturer streamlined its business processes across global sites.

The Client

The client is a global force in transport refrigeration and air conditioning systems.

The Challenge

The client had setup multiple manufacturing and distribution plants across the globe for ensuring timely delivery of its products. However, increased competition from global and local players was putting pressure on the client’s margins and profitability.

Additionally, each center had its own set of legacy systems and subsystems. This meant that each center had a different interface. This led
to inaccuracies, lack of corporate visibility and data redundancy. To address these issues, the client was keen to bring all its operating centers to transact on a single instance of ERP. Accordingly, SSA ERP Ln 6.1 was chosen as the ERP solution to be implemented and rolled out across all its divisions across the globe.

The Solution

As the ERP solution had to address the requirements of all centers across the globe, the visioning, mapping and subsequent piloting stage of the project was done at a global level for all the group companies. The overall enterprise structure was defined in such a way that it would fulfill the requirements of the big picture envisioned at the end of the entire consolidation/implementation exercise. Subsequently, a blueprint of process mapping and data codification was prepared for common processes. This global model was then deployed at a pilot location. During the rollout, Patni ensured that all local requirements were fulfilled with the help of additional bolt on features. These requirements included complying with VAT specifications, printing legal documents in Chinese for local business partners and in English for global business partners. Language issues were handled by deputing Chinese-speaking consultants. This helped Patni implement the approved business solution at the site where the only language for communication and transaction was Chinese.

User desktops, screens, training material and work instructions were delivered in both English and Chinese language. The solution ensured standardization as local sites inherited global processes from a common global repository. As the project was successful, the client gave the mandate to Patni to help it rollout the solution to other sites in a similar manner.

The Technology

SSA ERP Ln 6.1.

The Benefits

By partnering with Patni, the client successfully implemented a robust global solution that cut down data redundancy through effective sharing of common master data. This solution was also capable of operating simultaneously in multiple languages. The implementation was completed in a short timeframe with zero overruns in terms of schedule and costs. The centralized process model also gives the client the ability to consolidate business functions.

Other significant benefits include:
Standardization of business processes across sites
Improved transparency and reduction in human errors due to automation of intra company transactions
Visibility of data across different sites and low total cost of ownership
Real time financial consolidation at any level
Adherence to SOX role based access control.
