Patni, a leading player in the aerospace industry transitioned
from an ineffective paper based process to a knowledge management
system which provided it the ability to innovate and accelerate
its design process.
The Client
The client is a leading player in the aerospace and defense
space.
The Challenge
Engine design is a meticulous process generating voluminous
amount of design data. The engineering department of the client
performed the studies around part design and other design elements.
However, as the results of the studies were on paper, the client
faced the following challenges:

The client was in need of a solution to manage design related
knowledge, which could further help the designers.
The Solution
After thoroughly analyzing the client's needs, the team from
Patni developed a design knowledge management solution, which
integrated with the existing Quality systems.
This solution contained a central repository of design knowledge/studies
on various design solutions and cases of problem resolutions
that could be referred to by the designers. The solution also
had an approval workflow for authenticating the content.
