Maximizing the Power of Warehouse Automation using Mobile Computing Solutions |
| |
| Abstract |
In every sector of business, from high-tech to industrial manufacturing, the market is
forcing organizations to stay competitive by taking proactive steps to improve operations
and identify new strategies for quicker new product rollouts and forge new value-added
relationships with the suppliers and customers in pursuit of profitable growth.
A warehouse or distribution centre is a busy environment driven by deadlines. In addition
to this demand for "speed", comes the demand for accuracy in data collection. Typical
logistics companies are involved in the delivery of some type of goods, with two core
business processes: dispatch (dispatching of material to customers) and pickup and
delivery (involving the pickup, delivery and collection of proof-of-delivery information)
maintaining FIFO for the material in the warehouse.
This Paper discusses how mobility solutions can help in increasing the productivity and
profitability of automation in warehouses.
