The client operates one of
the largest business-tobusiness
networks in the
world with more than 1
lakh trading partners.
The Challenge
In a highly attractive procurement market wooed aggressively by many vendors, the
client consistently sought to improve its positioning by offering value added
applications around its business exchange. These applications addressed functions
such as supplier selection, buyer requirements, invoice enquiry and, payments and
settlements. Additionally, the client offered a supply chain visibility exchange for the
retail sector.
To raise the bar on customer satisfaction, the client initiated an exercise to enhance
the features of this exchange into a version which could easily suit the requirements of
specific retailers. However, this was a Herculean task as the exchange had to handle
more than 1200 parameters, along with the ability to handle large volumes of data.
The Solution
With time to market a critical driver for success, the client decided to leverage Patni's
expertise to enhance the features of the exchange. Patni developed a functionality on top of
the exchange that enabled the client's customers to easily configure the exchange
according to their needs. Patni also performed a series of quality check tests. Patni's

exchange within two weeks of delivery.
