Footwear retailer streamlines order management process |
|
|
Using Patni's proven offshore model, a large footwear retailer achieved a significant reduction in
maintenance costs.
The Client
The client is a leading
marketer of high quality
athletic and casual
footwear.
The Challenge
To meet customer expectations profitably, the client needed to have the ability to
fulfill the most complex orders regardless of the delivery channel. This was
important as the customer could order on the web, pickup goods in the store or
purchase using a catalog. To manage this process, the client used an order
management application which addressed functions related to inventory, credit
checking, shipping, invoicing and work-in-progress. This application subsequently
interfaced with a retail management system from JDA Software, a warehouse
management system from Manhattan Associates and a logistics management system
from Rockport.
Due to the crucial role of the application in enabling visibility across the supply
chain, even a small lag on the system had a crippling effect on its operations. This
required the client to:
 |
Proactively monitor and fix errors |
 |
Reduce the turnaround time for fixing errors. |
As the requirements of enhancing and maintaining the application was placing
increased demands on the IT staff, the client decided to outsource the activity of
providing application development support and maintenance services to Patni.
The Solution
In its quest to understand the product and the company's business process, a team from Patni
did a thorough study of the product. Subsequently, Patni provided complete support for the
order management system using an offshore model.
