Converged Technologies to Counter Security Threats |
| |
| Abstract |
Ensuring that people, assets and information remain secure is a top priority for all Governments, given the unstable environment of the recent times. The need to ensure that people can live and work in a safe and healthy environment is one of the highest priorities that cities have and there is an urgent need for local emergency system to be the first to respond to a terrorist-based attack or a natural disaster.
Converged network technologies can provide the underpinnings of a pervasive infrastructure for real time information capture and instantaneous decision-making. It enables the delivery of information via wired or wireless wide area networks (WANs), local area Networks (LANs), and/or over the internet or intranets - to and from desktop computers, laptops, personal digital assistants (PDAs), mobile command units, cameras, and other special purpose devices, thus taking a quantum leap from traditional video surveillance technology.
This approach paper focuses on the security solutions for the high sensitive areas with a rationale for the converged technologies approach and a high level solution based on the latest security trends and mobile technologies.
